Seems cut and dry, right? WRONG! What if there was a way to prevent unnecessary antibiotics and prevent a painful shot to resolve the toe issue? Introducing groundbreaking technology called Onyfix. Only available at Align Foot and Ankle
What is an Ingrown Toenail?
Medically speaking, an ingrown toenail is a problem with the nail fold of the toenail, due to the nail pushing on the skin. See Picture below. This may be caused by nail trauma, shoes too tight, miscutting the toenail, or a cut near the skin folds that cause swelling and ultimately the skin getting puffy where the nail grows. The offending nail has not moved any (It only grows out 1mm a month) but the skin irritation on the sides of the toe begin to puff up around the nail, making the nail a foreign body. Most primary doctors think the issue is infection, but the root cause is a buried nail. Even if infection is present, once the nail stops aggravating the skin, the area calms down and the issue resolves. Removing the nail surgically can prevent the need for antibiotics, but the numbing injections can hurt, and the process can create anxiety. Dr. Barnett does a very good job of minimizing pain from a shot, but some people have phobias of needles and want to avoid a shot at all costs. Most people would prefer to not get a shot or take unnecessary antibiotics, but how can Onyfix resolve the issue?
Onyfix Nail Correction System
Invented, researched, and clinically trialed in Germany and Canada, this groundbreaking procedure is FDA cleared and allows for a painless, noninvasive, and effective method in curing ingrown toenails. If the pressing nail can be altered and the skin less irritated, the issue can be resolved. Onyfix uses a medical grade resin that cures harder than the toenail, thus helping change the nail shape. This resin will help relieve nail pressure and change the shape of the toenail over time. The resin is contoured to various parts of the toenail, and using special curing lights, the resin is activated. The resin will hold the nail in a better position and will stay on as the nail continues to grow out. It is painless and the application takes less than 5 minutes. The skin can further be calmed with special creams, soaks, and gels available at Align Foot and Ankle. The resin can not only help ingrown nails, but also curved, damaged, and even fungal toenails. Sometimes less is more, and invasive procedures or intense antibiotics are not always the right answer. Dr. Barnett puts patient outcomes first and will always provide every option available to get you back on your feet.
